A day in Arkeedo

A few days ago Scarlett woke up happy enough, but when her daddy left she turned on me! When there was no improvement noted by 9:00 a.m. I packed a bag for the day, put the whiner in the car seat (after we put on the tutu, of course), and drove to Arkadelphia. We stopped by the Hasley's (see pic with Pepaw. Sorry Memaw, we didn't get any pictures with you - we will have to next time). Scarlett had a great time and even Aunt Michelle got a few hugs. We went to Mam and Paw's house all by ourselves because they were working, but Paw did come home to watch Backyardigan's with Scarlett. After her nap, we went to Mam's Candy Store (a.k.a the OBU bookstore - Grace used to call it Mam's Candy Store, and so the name has stuck). She had a great time walking up the stairs, especially the little stairs in front of the student center - she could do those all by herself. She walked around campus like she belonged there. There was one girl laying in the grass studying and little miss nosy walked up and just stared. I often wonder what goes through her little mind!!! We finally ended our day and had to get home to see daddy. Glad we got out of the house - don't know if I could have withstood the day of whining!

Once she realized Pepaw's chair made noises, she was more than happy to sit in his lap!

She loved "one, two, three"!!

Walking up the steps like a big girl

And, here is the girl studying. Sorry 'girl-we-don't-know'. I took this picture right before she looked up. She is pretty special - she has now made the blog. Scarlett is such a nosy little thang!

Kacy and The Car

It is official - Kacy is all grown up! I was 15 (one year younger than her) when she was born and now I feel OLD! She was such a sweet little girl - such a girlie girl. It never crossed my mind looking at that DRAMATIC four year-old in pig-tails that I would see the day she got her first car (and that it would come so soon!). It isn't easy watching them grow up - AND - now that I know it actually happens, I can't stop thinking about this being John Clark, Grace, and so on..... (I don't want to even THINK about it being Scarlett................ ugh). Well, here are a few pics of the big day.

Kacy Alyn and her ride (this SURE isn't the 1984 Prelude I had - but, I had a moon roof!)

Scarlett wanted in on the action

Getting ready to go!

GO HOGS!!!!

Scarlett and cousin Ainsley came with us today to cheer for the HOGS at Mrs. Lauren and Mr. Josh's house. Her friend Hunter came (all dressed in his GATOR gear - uggghh), but he cried everytime I would hold him. Scarlett had a ball with Macy (their dog) -- I guess I am going to have to break down and get this child a pet. I did figure one thing out today -- Scarlett is not about to take a nap at any house that does not have a pack-and-play. I can NOT get her to lay with me in bed and go to sleep - maybe my next child will be a snuggler. We finally left and just drove around while she slept - but by that point the HOGS had lost the game. We will continue to cheer for them - they need a couple of years to "rebuild"!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hurry it up.........

Immunization day. uuggghhh.............

Today was "shot" day. We weigh 26 pounds and are 32 inches tall!! I won't say much more, but...................
Here is Scarlett BEFORE the shots sitting in the chair like a big girl --

AND -- here is Scarlett AFTER the shots. I hope she didn't feel TOO
betrayed by her mommy and daddy!

Poor little legs!

Our little goof

Scarlett is really starting to have a good time playing lately. She has figured out she can put this bucket on her head (and can see through it - even better) -- I will look up and just see the top of the bucket walking along behind the couch. She is really starting to show her cute/funny side! I had to take a few pictures the other day - could not resist! I am pretty sure in the picture below that I am NOT supposed to have a bottle of infant's motrin within reach - she spotted it right away. If she could just play with bottles of medicine all day long, she would be a happy girl! Oh yeah - excuse the mess on the kitchen table - I had just unloaded some bags from Wal-mart.

Scarlett's first rain dance!

We had a Sunday School picnic at Lake Nixon this past Friday night - all was well (with the exception of 99.9% humidity!) until it started POURING down rain! Luckily, we were underneath a pavilion, but the minute the rain started Scarlett bolted towards the great outdoors. She had a ball playing around all soaking wet! I can just hear my Mamaw yelling now how she is going to get pneumonia! I just let her go and stripped her down before we got in the car.

Our little (teething) princess

We have had a rather uneventful September, which I guess is a good thing! Scarlett is teething - ONLY two more teeth left to come in (for awhile at least, according to the ADA dental chart I found online!). Teething has been a rather miserable experience for all involved. I know there is a tooth about to break through JUST by Scarlett's attitude - and the canine teeth have by FAR been the worst! Well, only two to go and one of those is coming any day now (please, oh PLEASE hurry!). And to top off her pain, I have to take her to get her 15 month immunizations this Friday - a little late, but we are getting them done!

We have this too-cute tutu laying around our house and Scarlett LOVES to wear it (it is really cute when she wears her elmo houseshoes at the same time!) . I guess this is an upgrade from the hula skirt we were wearing! I can already tell we are going to have a princess on our hands - except for the fact that she "punched" a baby in church today! I guess she is going to be able to take care of herself!

Our little lawn mower! (no - the mower was NOT on!)

Scarlett now KNOWS when she hears the lawn mower outside that it HAS to be her D-A-D-D-Y! She will run to the door repeating "dad-DEE, dad-DEE" with more excitement in her voice than I have EVER heard her say mommy - but - whatever! She had to go outside today and play while her daddy was mowing, I tried to keep her in the backyard while he was in the front, but that didn't work for long. Finally he turned the mower off (yes Mam, it was OFF in the picture!!!) so she could 'mow' the grass. It only interested her long enough for me to get a picture, then she realized it wasn't that much fun and went on to bigger and better things.

Table Manners - WHO NEEDS EM'?

We bought Scarlett her very own pink booster seat for the kitchen table. I guess I was hoping we could get rid of the high chair - but I don't think that is happening any time soon. The mess she makes at the high chair is at least containable! The mess at the kitchen table goes EVERYWHERE!! She enjoyed her booster seat, but I don't like it yet. Even though it has "safety straps" to hold her in, I had a feeling several times today during lunch that she was going to knock the whole chair over. So, for now, we will go back to the high chair and Scarlett will probably drag the booster into the living room -- what living room doesn't need a pretty pink chair?!? Oh yeah - as you can see - we have a great time showing people the food in our mouth! Everytime I would try to take a picture of her today, she would open up and let me see a little grilled cheese sandwich - YUM!
